I practiced law for ten years before deciding to commit myself fully to the support and encouragement of others as they enter and advance in the legal profession. I remember vividly my first years as a lawyer, and quite frankly, I was scared and frustrated with myself for so often having more questions than answers. I thought it was me, but now I know that almost everyone goes through similar struggles early in their practice.
Years ago I began to dream of a resource that would make new lawyers feel supported and less alone during this transition. In connecting with Jennifer, I found someone with a similar vision and drive to help others unlock the mysteries of succeeding in the legal profession. Together we have developed the JD Mentor workshops to provide a non-threatening environment for attorneys to learn and share experiences, while making genuine connections with other lawyers.
I bring to JD Mentor my years of experience in the profession, my passion for real conversations and my heart for supporting others. I am open and honest about my experiences and what I’ve learned, because I want to see you flourish. Through my complementary work at Lux Law Advising, I lead attorneys through a process of discovery and examination that illuminates the career path best suited to their unique needs, and then builds a realistic action plan for proceeding on that path. Through JD Mentor I get to help you learn, find, and develop the tools that will lead you to thrive in the legal profession. Jennifer Konieczny
I have been a practicing attorney for more than 11 years and have experience working in nearly every legal environment – from large general practice firm, to litigation firm, to in-house, to small firm and finally, to solo practice. So, to say that I have seen it all would be an understatement!
I could not be more grateful for this career journey, because being in each of these environments has lent me the opportunity to, not only understand my own experience in the practice of law, but to hear about that of others. What I have heard and seen in my experiences talking with others in our field is a common story – that attorneys, while often highly compensated, are largely unfulfilled and unsupported in their journeys. And there has been this resignation in our community that this is just the way it is. And that is simply unacceptable to me.
For as hard as we work and sacrifice to walk the career and life path of an attorney, we should be fulfilled, encouraged, supported and equipped…to succeed. I am so thrilled to be involved with JD Mentor, in an effort to put my money where my mouth is and bring these essential resources to our community. I also have a heart for strengthening and developing leaders in our community, through my complimentary 1-2-1 coaching work at Jettison. Because I have a strongly held belief that when you help leaders thrive, multiplication of mission, vision and change happens much more rapidly.
